Divisional Round Picks: Better Late than Never E-mail

White Boy's playoff picks (1-3)- Guess I'm as reliable as I was during the regular season

4) Arizona Cardinals (11-6) (+ ) at New Orleans Saints (13-3)- Have the Colts taught us nothing. Indy has lost three straight games when playing a game after a playoff bye. Last season, three of the teams with byes lost in the 2nd round. The Cards offensive is riding high after a 45 point explosion last week (other 6 by defense in OT of course).  The saints are ice cold both because it hasn't played a real game in 3 weeks and because it is a loser of three straight including two meaningful games to Dallas and Tampa. I think New Orleans was on a magic carpet ride that has ended. Also while Brees has had a shaky playoff career, Warner is one of the all time finest post season performers. THE PICK: CARDINALS TO WIN OUTRIGHT 35-31

3) Baltimore Ravens (10-7) (+ ) at Indianapolis Colts (14-2)- The Colts did not lose any meaningful games like the Saints did. However, it, more than any other team, has a history of coming out flat in these spots. A timing passing offense, even if it is engineered by the best QB in the world, needs reps in real game situations. The Ravens defense, despite being inconsistent during the regular season, came out firing against Brady and company and looks to have got its swag back. I think Baltimore jumps out to an early lead thanks to its superb ground attack and a defensive TD and the Colts make a comeback that falls just short. THE PICK: RAVENS TO WIN OUTRIGHT 24-20

2) Dallas Cowboys (12-5) at Minnesota Vikings (12-4) (- )- I know that a week 17 victory against the hapless and gutless Giants is no cause for celebration. However, the thorough manner in which it destroyed Big Blue likely has given them confidence heading into this game. Favre's arm looked back to normal despite, my own and my other people's doubts as to whether it had once again fallen off ala 2008. Expect Dallas to load the box and force Favre to beat it. However, I think Brett is up to the challenge this time around. Once he hits a big play down field. Dallas will have unload the box thereby unleashing the greatest running back since Barry Sanders. Dallas will score some points but Minnesota's solid secondary will make a play or two to tip the balance of power in this game. THE PICK: VIKINGS 27-21

1) New York Jets (10-7) at San Diego Chargers (13-3) (- )- I will be the first one to throw bouquets at Ryan and company if his club pulls off this upset. I still don't respect this Jets team because it hasn't beaten a decent team since it knocked off the pats in week 2. The Bengals are almost as bad as the 2007 Bucs as far as being a piss poor playoff representative. The Chargers are white hot heading into this game winning 11 straight. Still, its starters have had two weeks off thanks to clinching the 2 seed in week 16. I just don't buy into the idea that Ryan can actually create pressure with his schemes on Rivers. He gets rid of the ball way too quickly and has way too many weapons. The Charge is just a complete team who should win it all. THE PICK: CHARGERS 28-17
