Flozell Adams to the Steelers E-mail

On the eve of training camp, the Steelers signed free agent tackle Flozell Adams to a two-year contract according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network. Financial terms were not immediately disclosed, but it is believe to be a front loaded deal around worth $7.5 million with no signing bonus. If he makes the team, Adams will receive a $2.5 million salary this season and his salary for 2011 is $5 million, none of it guaranteed.

Is this a good move? Why would the Steelers pick up someone’s old, declining trash? Does this mean Willie Colon is done as a Steeler? Is Maxipad Starks moving back to RT? Will the Steelers O-line still suck ass? Answers after the jump!

TO to the Bengals!!!!!!! E-mail

A week ago, I explored the notion of an idiot ESPN analyst that TO would be a good fit for the Steelers. Thankfully, a dumber team stepped forward and took the bait. To the chagrin of no one, it was the team that grants more second chances then a state prison: The Cincinnati Bengals.

Yes, TO is joining the likes of Chode Ocho Cinco (COC) , Carson “Cornholer” Palmer, Cedric Benson and Antonio Bryant. What a ferocious offense this is! If this was oh 2005.

The fact of the matter, the king of excuses, Carson Palmer played terribly last year. But that was because, he didn’t have “weapons.” Or so the media pundits crowed. Enter this year. The Bengals added TO, Bryant and Cocaine-induced Matt Jones to their receiving core.

Per a league source, Owens will receive a base salary of $2 million. He can earn up to another $2 million in incentives. The source says that the incentives are based on receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Should I be scared?

Uh. No.

(5) Training camp sojurn is T-10 days away and I could care less- I have been a fanatical New York Football Giants' fan since 1993. It is a permanent part of my identity and always will be. However, I have soured on my favorite sports team in the previous 7 months. It started with that debacle against the Panthers in the team's final game  in the stadium that was named after it. Then, the Giants would not let my father and I move to a higher level section in order to keep 5 season tickets because my  father changed the tickets to his name 3 years ago from my late Grandfather's name. This apparently means we no longer qualify as 50 + year season ticket holders but instead are considered "new ticket holders" and therefore are not allowed to move our seats. Finally, I find out that the Giants did not even give us the option of keeping our Stadium Clubhouse restaurant passes by paying extra and just unceremoniously took them from us. Oh, and the team doesn't look too good either. Osi apparently needs hip surgery, Kenny Phillips may or may not be fully recovered from major knee surgery, and the defense has to prove to us fans that it can return to its 2008 form after its sickening performance in 2009.  However, I am looking forward to two aspects of this trip. The Ghost of Devo has a knack for making incredibly funny comments while watching training camp practices. Don't get me wrong, he is a funny man, but at no time and place does his comedic stylings make the mark more than during our annual trips to training camp. Also, we usually watch a Yankees game at the bar next to our motel with the Albany locals. This bar has great Giants memorabilia and features very inexpensive drinks and respectable food. So we got that going for us, which is nice.

The umpiring has been unforgivably and inconceivably bad this season. Several times each day, umpires around the league are making calls that not only are impossibly bad but that are changing the outcome of the games. Another gem by the men in blue occurred yesterday.

Watching Sportscenter is the equivalent of shoving wasps in one’s anus but I had the misfortune of checking it out last night only to hear blowhard Tedy Bruschi proclaim that TO coming to Yinzerville would be a good fit.

Whattt?

I think Bruschi has dished out one too many “hits” in his day and it’s now affecting his thought process. You mean to tell me that the onetime classiest franchise in all of sports is going to go after a team-killing, cancer-inducing, megalomanic and add him to their locker room filled with winners, champions and team first guys?

5) Yanks Angels weird ass 2 game series- I can't remember the last two game series against a non divisional foe in which the series featured 2 games within 15 hours of each other. Such is the case with this weeks two game series against arch rival Anaheim. Yes, I may not be able to see much of either game which bothers me but these two teams have a good rivalry and if you are going to have a two game series at all, it should at least be two night games. I wonder if the Halos will even stay at a hotel or instead just nap on the bus?

Now read about four more things that are really stupid....
