The Los Angeles Rams are your 2019 NFC Champions.
What a way to start off Championship Sunday. After being down 13-0 at the end of the first quarter, the Rams pulled off a comeback for the ages to send this game into overtime.
Once Jared Goff threw that first quarter interception inside the their own 25 yard line, it looked like the lights were going to be too bright for the Ram’s young quarterback and head coach. But Jared Goff played as well as you needed him to for the rest of the game: throwing for 297 yards and a touchdown while also running for a big first down in the third quarter. He connected 7 times with Brandin Cooks for 107 yards, the leading receiver on the day.
The Saints came into the game looking to shutdown the run. They only allowed 77 yards on the ground. Although they caught a bit of a break with Todd Gurley’s noticeable absence; he had 4 carries on the night. CJ “Beef” Anderson carried the ball 16 times for 44 yards.
Ignoring the refererria screw that marred the game, Sean Peyton had some mind boggling play calls. I don’t know why he put in Taysom Hill after a big first down when Drew Brees was finally looking to get in rhythm. It was mind boggling to watch Hill under center, while Brees lined up at receiver.
Drew Brees really never looked comfortable back there. Although he doesn’t have the arm strength of old, he still likes to throw the ball down field for big plays. Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters did a good job in coverage and didn’t let the Saints connect on big plays down field.
Ndamukong Suh had his best game the season. He was great in run stopping and also added 1.5 sacks. He has been great in the postseason, which leads me to believe he wasn’t even trying during the regular season. Expect him to have a huge impact in the Super Bowl.
Greg Zuerlein hit the 57 yard game winning field goal in overtime. The Rams are heading to Atlanta to face off against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 53.
Betting mastermind. Didn't have the height or talent for sports but I can talk and pick them like a champ.
