NBA Hit or Miss January 24th, 2019

We will get out of this slump ladies and gentleman…

New Orleans Pelicans @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Spread: Thunder -13.0

O/U: 231.5

Anthony Davis will sit out his third straight game with a fractured finger, leaving the Pelicans at a major disadvantage. Jrue Holiday doesn’t have the experience to lead this team against a team like the Thunder. The Thunder have won their last 3 games and have covered the spread in each. OKC is ranked top ten in opponents field goal percentage, proving they are one of the better defensive teams in the league. Plus, they lead the league in steals, allowing Russell Westbrook and Paul George to get out in transition for easy baskets. This game should belong to the Thunder.

My Picks:

Spread: Thunder -13.0

O/U: Under 231.5

Winner: Thunder

Golden State Warriors @ Washington Wizards

Spread: Warriors -9.5

O/U: 235.0

Since the arrival of Demarcus Cousins, the Golden States have won their games by an average margin of 17.5 points. There is just no way you can cover everyone on this team. Klay Thompson got one wide open three after another against the Lakers; he sunk his first 10 three point attempts that night. The Warriors have won 8 straight games and 10 of their last 11. Golden State has covered the spread in their last 4 games and there is nothing telling me this game is going to be any different. They are going to win their 9th straight game; I expect by at least 20.

My Picks:

Spread: Warriors -9.5

O/U: Under 235.0

Winner: Warriors

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Lakers

Spread: Pick ‘em

O/U: 230.0

The Los Angeles Lakers will get back Rajon Rondo tonight, but it won't be enough for them to defeat the Timberwolves. The Lakers have lost 2 straight games and are 4-6 in their last 10. Meanwhile, the Wolves have won 2 straight and are 6-4 in their last 10. The Lakers are not a team full of shooters, they need transition baskets. That will be very hard to do against the Timberwolves because they average the second fewest turnovers in the league, only giving away the rock 12.7 times per game. If the Timberwolves can continue to play safe ball and not give the ball up, they should be able to take this one on the road in the Staples Center.

My Picks:

Spread: Timberwolves

O/U: Over 230.0

Winner: Timberwolves
