NBA Hit or Miss January 29th, 2019

1-2 on Sunday after a perfect Saturday and 4 straight in Battle of the Bettors, so tonight I think my luck will return.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Orlando Magic

Spread: Thunder -4.0

O/U: 222.5

OKC is coming off a huge win against the 1st place Milwaukee Bucks and have now won 5 straight games. The Thunder are the best offensive rebounding team in the league averaging 12.4 offensive rebound per game. The Magic don’t have a big man inside that will be able to stop Steven Adams and Russell Westbrook from imposing their will and getting a plethora of second chance opportunities. The Magic are also the worst team at getting to and executing from the free throw line this season. They ranked dead last in both made free throws and free throw attempts. The Thunder are also 14-11 against the spread on the road, while the Magic have a losing record against the spread at home--only 12-13-1. In eight out of the last ten games, the Thunder have have hit the Over. This should be a cover for the Thunder and take the Over.

Spread: Thunder -4.0

O/U: Over 222.5

Winner: Thunder

Brooklyn Nets @ Chicago Bulls

Spread: Nets -6.5

O/U: 220

The Chicago Bulls are now 1-9 in their last 10 games have just looked horrible all season long. They just lost at home to the worst team in the league, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Meanwhile the Nets have impressed me all season long. They’re 7-3 in their last 10 games and have covered the spread in 8 of their last 9. The Nets take advantage of the three ball. They shoot the 4th most three-pointers per game, but still rank 8th in percentage at .361%. They also defend very well against the 3, ranking 7th in three point defense at .345%. The Bulls meanwhile don’t shoot the 3 well ranking, 17th at .349%. And Chicago only ranks 15th at defending the 3. This should be a pretty easy cover for the Nets and I would take the Over because the Bulls last 4 games have been under and 3 of the last 4 for the Nets have hit the over.

Phoenix Suns @ San Antonio Spurs

Spread: Spurs -13.0

O/U: 226.0

This should be a pretty easy win and cover for the San Antonio Spurs. They are the best three-point shooting team in the league at .409% going against the Suns, who are ranked dead last at shooting the three ball with a measly .331%. Like most Gregg Popovich coached teams, the Spurs are very disciplined. They commit the second fewest fouls in the league. They will not give the opposing team any free points. The only stat I could possibly give you to make it look like the Suns have a chance is that they force the second most steals in the league. However, the Spurs turn the ball over the second least. The Spurs have covered 7 straight games and the Suns haven’t covered in their last 4. Take the Spurs

Spread: Spurs -13

O/U: Under 226
