NBA Hit or Miss February 1st, 2019

Out here looking for a perfect Friday night.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Miami Heat

Spread: Thunder -4.0

O/U: 219.5

The Thunder are in the middle of a 6 game winning streak and are travelling to Miami after 2 days of rest. Russell Westbrook has had four straight triple doubles and should be able to get many good looks tonight, due to the lack of star talent on the Miami Heat roster. The Thunder play at the third highest pace in the league. Meanwhile the Heat are one of the slower teams, ranked 24th. The Thunder will make the Heat play up to their pace, putting them at a major disadvantage. The Thunder lead the league in steals per game at 10.2 and should be able to capitalize on Miami’s weak ball handling since the loss of Goran Dragic. This game is going to be won on the inside. I think Adams is going to have a big game against the 7’1’’ Miami center Hassan Whiteside. Thunder should cover the spread and win their 7th straight game.

Spread: Thunder -4.0

O/U: Under 219.5

Winner: Thunder

Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks

Spread: Celtics -13.0

O/U: 215.5

Since the Knicks just traded away 3 huge pieces, they are going to have no chance in this game tonight. Expect a hostile crowd. It’s going to feel like a road game out there. Not to mention they are playing my pick to win the East this season, the Celtics. Brad Stevens is the best coach in the NBA today and will be able to draw up a game plan to blow the Knicks out of the water early. The Celtics make the third most 3 point shots per game in the league thus far at 13.3. The Knicks are 24th in the league at only 9.9. The Knicks have a defensive rating of 113.9 which is 28th in the NBA. They are one of the worst defensive teams in the league and face a deeply talented Celtics roster. The Celtics have won their past 2 games this season against the Knicks and have covered the spread with ease in both games. They should be able to do it again tonight.

Spread: Celtics -13.0

O/U: Under 215.5

Winner: Celtics

Houston Rockets @ Denver Nuggets

Spread: Nuggets -4.0

O/U: 225.0

The Nuggets are currently on a 4 game winning streak and will take on the Houston Rockets at home tonight. The Rockets had an extra day to rest and time to get used to the Denver altitude people always talk about. Chris Paul is back and has a few games under his belt, so he should be back in the swing of things. But of course the big story here is James Harden. Leading the league in scoring with 36.3 points per game is impressive enough, but he is also averaging 8.1 assist, and 6.7 rebounds. He is going to come into Denver and put on a show. The Rockets are the 5th best true shooting team with 57.4% and have the 2nd best offensive efficiency at 114.1. They make the most three pointers in the league at 15.3 per game. With Paul back in the line up, Houston will spread the floor and get everybody even better looks. I’m taking the Rockets to cover the spread and win the game.

Spread: Rockets +4.0

O/U: Over 225.0

Winner: Rockets
