NBA Hit or Miss February 14th, 2019

Happy Valentines Day! My gift to you is money! Let’s get it.

Charlotte Hornets @ Orlando Magic

Spread: Magic -3.5

O/U: 215.0

The Orlando Magic are on a bit of a roll right now, winning 4 straight games. The Magic, however, have lost 13 consecutive games against the Hornets. Stats like that are something I used to overlook, but not anymore. Plus, I always tend to bet on the team with the best player on the court and that is Kemba Walker of the Hornets. Kemba is averaging 25.2 points per game this season and is really showing he can be a leader. He has recorded 5 straight games of at least 30 points and will look to do the same tonight. What the Hornets do better than anyone in the league is not turn the ball over. They only give up the rock 12 times per game, which is good for 1st in the NBA. They are one of the better offensive teams too with an offensive rating of 111.3 to the Magic’s 106.8. Expect Kemba Walker and the Hornets to walk into Orlando and win their 14th straight game against the Magic. Take the spread and the moneyline.

Spread: Hornets +3.5

O/U: Over 215.0

Winner: Hornets

New York Knicks @ Atlanta Hawks

Spread: Hawks -8.0

O/U: 225.0

The Knicks are truly all in on tanking for Zion, or whoever they want at the first overall pick. They have now lost 18 straight games and are entering the second game of a back to back. I know Atlanta is also one of the worst teams in the league, but they are coming off a win against the Lakers (so they have shown they can beat real teams). The Knicks haven’t proven they can beat a High School JV team this season. New York is dead last in field goal percentage, assists, true shooting and effective field goal percentage. This team literally does nothing well except offensive rebounding. Unfortunately, the Hawks are better at that: averaging 11.4 per game (5th) to the Knicks 10.9 (9th). Especially because the Knicks are on the back end of a back to back, the Hawks are a no brainer pick.

Spread: Hawks -8.0

O/U: Under 225.0

Winner: Hawks

Oklahoma City Thunder @ New Orleans Pelicans

Spread: Thunder -4.5

O/U: 238.5

I am shocked the spread is so low. I guess it’s because Anthony Davis is technically playing, but he has already admitted to the Pelicans that he doesn’t want to play for them anymore. He’s probably going to sleep walk through the entire game. New Orleans still has some nice players in Julius Randle and Jrue Holiday, but that line-up does not compare to the Thunder. Russell Westbrook has recorded ten straight triple doubles and Paul George is currently the best 2 way player in the NBA. The Thunder have the third best defensive rating in the league at 105.6, while the Pelicans are way down at 23rd at 112.0. The Thunder are also ranked 1st in offensive rebounds per game at 12.1, which is going to lead to a lot of second chance points for George and Westbrook. This is the lock of the night, in my opinion, and you should jump on this line before it starts to go up.
