Way Too Early 2019 World Series Hit or Miss

The betting odds for the favorites to win the 2019 World Series have been released. I know it is only February and Spring Training hasn’t even started yet, but it’s always fun to make predictions this early. These are highly speculative given the unpredictability of injuries, trades, and marquee free agents signings. Here are the odds for each team as of 2/13/2019 according to Bovada.com.

Boston Red Sox +600

Houston Astros +600

New York Yankees +600

Los Angeles Dodgers +700

Chicago Cubs +1100

Milwaukee Brewers +1200

Philadelphia Phillies +1200

Atlanta Braves +1400

Cleveland Indians +1400

St. Louis Cardinals +1400

Washington Nationals +1600

Colorado Rockies +1800

New York Mets +2200

Oakland Athletics +2500

Tampa Bay Rays +3500

Arizona Diamondbacks +5000

Chicago White Sox +5000

Los Angeles Angels +5000

Minnesota Twins +6000

Seattle Mariners +6000

Cincinnati Reds +7000

Pittsburgh Pirates +7000

Toronto Blue Jays +9000

San Diego Padres +10000

San Francisco Giants +12500

Texas Rangers +20000

Detroit Tigers +25000

Kansas City Royals +25000

Miami Marlins +35000

Baltimore Orioles +60000

The Red Sox are tied for favorites to win the World Series, but we all know how hard it is to repeat as champions. Tied with them is the young and talented Houston Astros and the dynamic New York Yankees. All three teams have +600 odds. The Los Angeles Dodgers come in at +700 that would put them in their third straight appearance in the final series of the season.

The biggest surprise on the board is how good the odds are for the New York Mets at +2200. The Mets have the 13th best odds, despite not looking like a team that Vegas should have any faith in. It could be the addition of new GM Brodie Van Wagenen, who seems to be very aggressive and is hopefully making a lot of good moves.

Also keep an eye out for what teams finally snatch up Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. The odds will go up significantly to whichever teams are lucky enough to sign those franchise changing talents.

On Last Second Covers, I predicted that at the end of this season the Houston Astros will win their 2nd World Series trophy in the last 3 seasons, while Chazz thought the Yankees would win their 28th World Series title. This is going to be a very fun season. In baseball more than any other sport, you never know which team will come out of nowhere. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments section below.
