NBA Hit or Miss February 21st, 2019

Going 0-3 on Valentine's Day is more proof that I will be alone forever.

Miami Heat @ Philadelphia 76ers

Spread: 76ers -5.5

O/U: 219.0

With Joel Embiid out for tonight's game, the Miami Heat have a huge advantage in the paint. Hassan Whiteside should be able to get away with whatever he wants in this game. The Sixers are losing a 13.5 rebounds per game player in Embiid. On defense, the Heat have continue to be one of the best in the NBA thanks to head coach Erik Spoelstra. Although they lack offensive firepower, Miami enjoys a 107.3 defensive rating (6th). The Sixers have won the past four meetings against the Heat in the regular season and should be able to do the same tonight. They still have better talent and home court advantage. I think the Heat will cover the spread, but Sixers take the game.

Spread: Miami +5.5

O/U: Under 219.0

Winner: 76ers

Phoenix Suns @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Spread: Pick ‘em

O/U: 221.0

This is one of the worst matchups you can ask for. These two teams have a combined record of 13-94. I am going to ride with the Cavaliers at home. They have the better offensive rating at 106.4 to the Sun’s 104.7. The Cavs have done one thing really well this season and that’s not turning the ball over. Cleveland averages only 12.4 giveaways per game which is good enough to be tied for 4th in the league. That will be crucial against a Suns team that is ranked 2nd in steals on the season with 9.0. I think the Cavs should be able to take this one in front of their home crowd.

Spread: Cavs

O/U: Over 221.0

Winner: Cavs

Boston Celtics @ Milwaukee Bucks

Spread: Bucks -5.5

O/U: 228.5

This is a very possible Eastern Conference Finals preview. The Celtics have hit speed bumps all season long. The drama around Kyrie and Marcus Morris has been distracting. Boston just isn’t as cohesive a team as the Bucks. Milwaukee play like a team and that is going to be the main reason they win this game tonight. They have the 2nd best field goal percentage in the NBA this season because they know how to get eachother open. And the talent level matches the team chemistry; guys like Giannis, Middleton, and Bledsoe are capable of creating their own shots. The Bucks lead the league in rebounds per game (48.8), while the Celtics are 15th (45.1). The Celtics will also be without Gordon Hayward, who was really starting to come into his own lately. The Bucks should be able to take this game and cover the spread at home tonight,

Spread: Bucks -5.5

O/U: 228.5

Winner: Bucks

Betting mastermind. Didn't have the height or talent for sports but I can talk and pick them like a champ.
