Today we finally have a full slate of games to make the perfect lineup.
Last Lineup’s Best Picks:
Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors (61.5 Fantasy Points vs 47.3 FPPG)
DeMarcus Cousins, Golden State Warriors (37 Fantasy Points vs 32.4 FPPG)
JJ Redick, Philadelphia 76ers (28.5 Fantasy Points vs 27.6 FPPG)
Al-Farouq Aminu, Portland Trail Blazers (26.5 Fantasy Points vs 24.2 FPPG)
Tonight’s Starting Lineup:
PG – Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors (DK Salary $7,200, 37.9 FPPG)
I’ve picked Kyle Lowry only once for my Fantasy Favorites. I know have a grudge against the man because he decided to sit out at the last minute with a surprise knee injury! However, no matter my distaste for that occurrence, he is still very effective when healthy. A 5 time All-Star, Lowry is nearly averaging a double-double this season with 14.3 PPG and 9.2 APG. Those numbers combined with his 4.5 RPG and 1.4 STLPG put him at an impressive 37.9 FPPG. What’s especially promising is his improvement before the All-Star break, averaging 42.25 FPPG in the 4 games prior. With the Raptors returning to action at home against a Spurs team that ranks 24th in OPRK against PGs, take a chance on the former Villanova first-rounder.
SG – Reggie Jackson, Detroit Pistons (DK Salary $5,600, 26.7 FPPG)
Jackson is a solid starter who often won’t have jaw-dropping performances, but he has been showing massive growth as of late. In his last 8 games prior to the All-Star break, Jackson has put up 33 or more Fantasy Points 5 times, including a dominant 46.5 Fantasy Point outing against the Clippers on February 2. With the Pistons traveling to Atlanta to take on an abysmal Hawks team that ranks 26th in OPRK against PG/SGs, expect Jackson’s strong play to continue.
SF – Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks (DK Salary $9,100, 40.8 FPPG)
I am not sure how Doncic will play when Kristaps “Snake” Porzingis returns to action, but his performance this year has been exceptional. In his first year with Dallas, the 19-year-old rookie is averaging an impressive 20.7 PPG / 7.2 RPG / 5.6 APG for a strong 40.8 FPPG. Doncic has really found his groove as of late, too. His Fantasy Points in 5 of his last 6 games are crazy: 46.5, 45.5, 50.8, 54.0, and 62.3. After a quick breather to get his body back to full strength, expect Doncic to feast against a Nuggets team that is in the bottom third of the NBA in OPRK against PG/SFs.
PF – Domantas Sabonis, Indiana Pacers (DK Salary $5,500, 31.5 FPPG)
To be quite frank, I don’t know why Sabonis’s price tag has been dropping so much. Just over a month ago his DK salary was $7,100 and now he’s all the way down to DK $5,500. For 31.5 FPPG, that value is a steal. Some may shutter at the idea of playing Sabonis against the Pelicans, but a few important things to consider: Anthony Davis has not played well since returning from his injury, Sabonis’s workload has increased since Oladipo went down, and the Pelicans rank 27th in OPP PPG with 114.8. For the value and the potential, Sabonis is a strong pick tonight.
C – Blake Griffin, Detroit Pistons (DK Salary $8,900, 46.7 FPPG)
Probably my favorite pick of the night, I am expecting Blake Griffin to go off in Atlanta. Now that he has improved his 3-point game with a respectable 36.5% from behind the arc, the former #1 pick has been killing it this year with 26.3 PPG / 8.1 RPG / 5.4 APG. In his 2 games before the All-Star game, Blake was really heating up with 53.7 FPPG. With him and Andre Drummond tag-teaming a weak Hawks squad that ranks 28th in OPRK against PF/Cs, expect Griffin to bully in the post tonight.
G – Jeremy Lin, Toronto Raptors (DK Salary $4,500, 20.3 FPPG)
Linsanity is still alive and well! Maybe he’s not as sensational as he was in that crazy stint with the Knicks, but he is still a very productive guard for fantasy. His DraftKings salary recently shot up from $3,900 DK 2 games prior to the All-Star break, and for good reason. Over his last 3 games, Lin has been a steady overperformer with 25.5, 24.3, and 24.3 Fantasy Points, respectively. With his new Raptors team hosting a Spurs squad that ranks 24th in OPRK against PG/SGs, Lin should continue his strong play.
F – Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz (DK Salary $4,800, 25.4 FPPG)
One thing I’ve noticed about Derrick Favors that intrigues me is his correlation between production and minutes. When he plays 16 minutes or less, he seems to underperform, but when he hits more than 16 minutes his production seems to balloon. In his last 13 games where he saw over 16 minutes of action, Favors has posted over 27 Fantasy Points 8 times. Now that his body is rested after the break and he can continue playing on consistent minutes as a starter, expect Favors to overperform again against an OKC team that is 26th in OPRK against PF/Cs.
UTIL – Monte Morris, Denver Nuggets (DK Salary $4,400, 22.2 FPPG)
Morris is admittedly a risky pick because of his performance polarity, but no risk, no reward! The thing that is especially exciting about Morris is his ability to have breakout games. In his last 8 games, he has had the following dominating performances: 34.3 Fantasy Points against Miami, 34.3 Fantasy Points against Brooklyn, 44.3 Fantasy Points against Minnesota, 42.5 Fantasy Points against Houston, and 44.8 Fantasy Points against New Orleans. With Denver taking on a Mavericks team that is in the bottom third in OPRK against Point Guards, Morris should have another powerful performance.
Purveyor of truth. Breaker of chains. Foolish fan of the Mets, Jets, and Knicks.
