This week’s best and worst from the WWE.
Top Pops of the Week
Becky Lynch and Stephanie McMahon (RAW)
Becky Lynch showed up on Monday Night Raw this week to have a face to face chat with Stephanie McMahon. Steph invited Becky into the ring to inform her that she must get cleared by the WWE doctors, if she wants to compete. Becky has been selling a knee injury since the Royal Rumble, and has been saying she will not let the medical staff look at her. Becky claims if she is looked at she won’t be cleared to face Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania because “they” don’t want her in the match. This story-line has a similar feel to the Steve Austin days when he was feuding with Vince McMahon. Becky’s refusal to be checked out lead to her suspension from Raw and Smackdown. Upon hearing the news, Becky started to attack Steph, drawing a huge reaction from the crowd. This was easily the best segment of the week, and it got Becky even more popular than she already was.
Daniel Bryan Promo (Smackdown)
Smackdown was in Daniel’s home state of Washington this week; and in a genius decision, Bryan didn’t speak to them like a heel. Daniel has been preaching that we don’t care about the planet and are killing mother nature. We don’t recycle; we drive SUVs; we eat meat. This Tuesday, Bryan talked to the people of Washington about how they were the only one’s on his side. Only the smart people of Washington were educated enough to know to follow him. Absolutely incredible. For months now Daniel has been playing the bad guy by saying we need to treat the planet better. Not many people can pull that off, but he is just that damn good. He proclaimed himself the “Planets Champion” and said he needed to be champion forever for the betterment of the planet. Amazing work Daniel.
Worst Botches of the Week
Kurt Angle Backstage Segment (RAW)
I know, I know, this is mainly a show that is targeted towards kids, but my god this was just painful. The thing that always made wrestling fun and enjoyable was when they made you think it could be real. But when you watch segments like this, it’s just a slap in the face. “I was about to leave my ring gear at home, but something told me otherwise.” Get the fuck outta here with that. WWE writers have this tendency to write the corniest shit; stuff that belongs in a cringe video. Kurt Angle is goddamn legend in wrestling and an Olympic gold medalist. He looked like he just wanted to get this over with, and I can’t say I blame him. I have heard better dialogue in Kung Fu Panda 3. This was so bad I changed the channel until it was over.
A Moment of Bliss (RAW)
There has not been a successful ‘Moment of Bliss’ segment since its inception. This week on Raw, Alexa Bliss brought out EC3, which I was genuinely very excited to see. It was his Raw debut and I know this man can be very entertaining. BUT HE DIDN’T SAY A SINGLE WORD. Instead Nia-fucking-Jax comes out to interrupt her for some reason. I don’t know what it was because I was too busy groaning that this woman was on my screen again. Here I am just wanting something new on this show that seems to give the audience the same thing week after week. The only saving grace was when Dean Ambrose came out. He was genuinely funny, but not enough to save this skit.
Betting mastermind. Didn't have the height or talent for sports but I can talk and pick them like a champ.
