NBA Hit or Miss March 13th, 2019

If I can just quote the newly reunited Jonas Brothers: “I’m Burning Up”.

Detroit Pistons @ Miami Heat

Spread: Heat -2.0

O/U: 208.5

The Pistons and Heat are very close in the standings and almost every team stat. That being said, Miami has a slight advantage in shooting: 45.3% from the field, while the Pistons are at 44.2%. The Pistons do most of their damage inside the paint; but with Miami’s Hassan Whiteside and Bam Adebayo defending, they will have trouble. I expect the Heat to make Blake Griffin shoot more jump shots. Miami is a top 10 rebounding team, which is crucial against Andre Drummond and the Blake Griffin. If Hassan can keep some boards out of Drummonds mits, the Heat have a great chance. Home court advantage is a boost and the Pistons are in the middle of a road trip (only 13-19 on the road this season). I’m taking the Heat to win and cover.

Spread: Heat -2.0

O/U: Over 208.5

Winner: Heat

Golden State Warriors @ Houston Rockets

Spread: Rockets -3.5

O/U: 228.5

Although Kevin Durant is out tonight, history tells us that the Warriors actually play very well without him. When Curry is playing without Durant, the Warriors are 24-3. Meanwhile, the Rockets are on a 9 game winning streak and looking for vengeance after last season. The Warriors are still the best team in the league and I will always ride with them when given points. They are still the best shooting team in the league at 48.8%, while the Rockets are all the way down at 44.6% (26th). The Warriors top almost every shooting category and they show it every night. They tend to tighten things up when they play teams like the Rockets and I exact that tonight. I am taking the Warriors to cover and win.

Spread: Warriors +3.5

O/U: Over 228.5

Winner: Warriors

Utah Jazz @ Phoenix Suns

Spread: Jazz -9.0

O/U: 221.0

The Utah Jazz have lost 2 straight games and are looking to halt the streak against that the Phoenix Suns. The Suns have the worst record in the NBA and will lose tonight. The Jazz are still the 2nd best defensive team in the NBA with a defensive rating of 106.1. The young Suns roster will struggle to score points. The Suns are also the worst rebounding team in the NBA, and will have to face Rudy Gobert who’s averaging nearly 13 per game. The Jazz are top 10 in made three point shots per game with 11.2 (9th). I just don’t see anyway the Suns stay in this game. I am taking the Jazz to start a new win streak and blow out Phoenix. Jazz win and cover.

Spread: Jazz -9.0

O/U: Under 221.0
