Heeeeeey, we won some moooon-aaaay! Last night was a good one, and tonight should be even better!
Last Lineup’s Best Picks:
John Collins, Atlanta Hawks (51 Fantasy Points vs 36.7 FPPG)
CJ Miles, Memphis Grizzlies (39.75 Fantasy Points vs 11.4 FPPG)
Rodions Kurucs, Brooklyn Nets (20.25 Fantasy Points vs 16.8 FPPG)
Tonight’s Starting Lineup:
PG – Kyrie Irving, Boston Celtics (DK Salary $8,900, 44.5 FPPG)
Irving again? Yes, please! Kyrie didn’t quite hit his 44.5 FPPG average the last time we started him, but tonight is as good a night as any to play him. The young superstar has scored over 40 Fantasy Points in 5 of his last 6 games, including a dominant 56.3 Fantasy Point against the Lakers on 3/9. Tonight, Boston is at home against a Kings team that is dead last in the NBA in OPRK against Point Guards. With the Celtics looking to lock up a playoff spot in the East, expect Irving to feast.
SG – Jamal Murray, Denver Nuggets (DK Salary $6,400, 33.3 FPPG)
Murray is as sharp a shooter as they come. The young guard had a tough game against Golden State last Friday, but that’s also due to the fact that he only played 23 minutes. When that game is removed from his log, he is averaging 36.7 FPPG over his last 6 games. He and the Nuggets are especially dominant at home, where they will be tonight against the Mavericks who rank in the bottom third of the NBA in OPRK against PG/SGs. With Denver hoping to knock off Golden State for the 1 seed in the West, Murray should dominate tonight.
SF – Aaron Gordon, Orlando Magic (DK Salary $6,500, 33.5 FPPG)
Dealing with sore ribs, Gordon was a bit of a surprise for Orlando last night. Despite his ailment, the former Wildcat still putting up an impressive 34.8 Fantasy Points against the Wizards. Gordon has been playing especially well as of late, averaging 36.4 FPPG over his last 8. As of right now, the Magic are the 9 seed in the East and are fighting for their lives to make the playoffs. In front of a home crowd, Orlando should fire on all cylinders tonight against a tanking Cavs team.
PF – Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz (DK Salary $5,500, 26.7 FPPG)
Remember when Derrick Favors went on that insane fantasy streak? Well, looks like it’s starting up again! Starting with Utah’s game against San Antonio on February 9, Favors has posted the following Fantasy Points in successive games: 29.5, 32.3, 45.5, 24.8, 37.3, 36.8, 54.0, 25.0, 38.3. For a guy that averages 26.7 FPPG, that streak is rather remarkable. Favors fell back to reality over the last 2 games, but then went off again last night, posting 41.3 Fantasy Points. Favors is still trending up. And as Utah makes a final push for their playoffs in front of a home crowd, he should light it up yet again.
C – Myles Turner, Indiana Pacers (DK Salary $6,700, 31.8 FPPG)
I find Myles Turner to be a very intriguing player. Standing at 6’11”, he is a giant under the rim who can block shots (2.9 BLKPG), run the ball in transition, and hit a 3 when he needs to. His versatility and defensive prowess make him a very fantasy-friendly player, and his stats show it. Over his last 4 games, Turner has scored 40+ Fantasy Points 3 times, including a 58.3 Fantasy Point game against the Bucks last Thursday. OKC may be a very solid team, but Turner is also one of the key reasons the Pacers haven’t fallen off after the devastating injury to former Hoosier Victor Oladipo. Turner should do big things tonight at home.
G – Joe Ingles, Utah Jazz (DK Salary $6,000, 27.9 FPPG)
Do I love Joe Ingles the player? Not particularly. But I’m a numbers guy, and the number don’t lie. Ingles has averaged a rather astonishing 34.1 FPPG over his last 10 games. Consistency has been a big key to his recent success. Over that same 10 game stretch, the veteran guard has dipped below 33 Fantasy Points only twice. I wouldn’t exactly buy a Joe Ingles jersey, but I am excited to play him tonight at home against a T-Wolves team that is 25th in OPRK against SG/SFs.
F – Nemanja Bjelica, Sacramento Kings (DK Salary $4,900, 23.4 FPPG)
I LOVE THIS MAN! Following an incredible 39 Fantasy Point outing against the Knicks on 3/9, we started him on Monday against the Wizards with the hope that he could repeat. He did not disappoint. Bjelica posted another 39.5 Fantasy Points for Sacramento on 15 Points and 12 Rebounds. Much like last Monday, the biggest positive for Bjelica is his increased minutes. He’s dominating the paint and scoring as many layups and grabbing as many boards as humanly possible. With the Kings chasing playoff hopes, take Bjelica tonight against a Celtics team that is 25th in OPRK against Power Forwards.
UTIL – Collin Sexton, Cleveland Cavaliers (DK Salary $5,000, 24.4 FPPG)
I call this pick the Steal of the Night. Sexton has had a very nice rookie campaign with 15.6 PPG and 24.4 FPPG. The point guard seems to be getting better as he becomes more comfortable in the NBA. Over his last 3 games, Sexton has averaged a very impressive 36.2 FPPG, which in terms of value well exceeds his $5,000 DK price tag. He faces an Orlando team that has relatively strong perimeter defense, but a player like Collin Sexton at such a small fantasy price is too good to pass up. Take him tonight against the Magic.
