NBA Fantasy Favorites - March 18, 2019

While March Madness has taken the spotlight, don’t forget to keep it up in DFS!

Last Lineup’s Best Picks:

Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers (56.25 Fantasy Points vs 54.6 FPPG)

Kemba Walker, Charlotte Hornets (48.25 Fantasy Points vs 43.0 FPPG)

Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles Clippers (42.25 Fantasy Points vs 31.4 FPPG)

CJ McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers (38.75 Fantasy Points vs 33.7 FPPG)

Justise Winslow, Miami Heat (36 Fantasy Points vs 28.3 FPPG)

Eric Gordon, Houston Rockets (29.5 Fantasy Points vs 25.6 FPPG)

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Los Angeles Lakers (23.5 Fantasy Points vs 16.9 FPPG)

Tonight’s Starting Lineup:

PG – Elfrid Payton, New Orleans Pelicans (DK Salary $7,500, 31.1 FPPG)

I’ve never picked Elfrid Payton for a Fantasy Favorites lineup, but his recent play suggests it’s time to start him. Since Jrue Holiday has been out of the Pelicans’ lineup due to injury, Payton has picked up the slack. Over his last 4 games, the former Magic guard has averaged a stunning 57.4 FPPG. Tonight, New Orleans travels to Dallas to face off against a Mavericks team that is 23rd in OPRK against Point Guards. With Holiday out of the Pelicans lineup yet again, take Payton to dominate tonight in the Lone Star State.

SG – Jalen Brunson, Dallas Mavericks (DK Salary $6,100, 16.8 FPPG)

Brunson has been vastly overshadowed by fellow Mavericks guard Luka Doncic. And yet, he has been lighting it up lately. Sure $6,100 DK for only 16.8 FPPG seems like poor value. But over his last 5 outings, the rookie has averaged 35.6 FPPG. His breakout performances have came during Doncic’s absence in the Dallas lineup. With Luka Doncic again out tonight against a Pelicans team that is without its best perimeter defender (Jrue Holiday), expect Brunson to dominate again.

SF – Damyean Dotson, New York Knicks (DK Salary $5,300, 20.4 FPPG)

The tank is on for New York, and that is good news for Dotson. He has seen over 30 minutes on the court in each of his last 7 games, and because of those minutes he has been playing phenomenally. A natural scorer, Dotson has averaged 22.5 PPG and 36.5 FPPG over his last 4 outings. The Knicks should be expected to lose tonight in Toronto, but the former G-leaguer should light it up against a Raptors squad that is 24th in OPRK against SG/SFs.

PF – Paul Millsap, Denver Nuggets (DK Salary $6,600, 29.2 FPPG)

The Nuggets have been a major surprise as a powerhouse in the Western Conference, and the team’s success is largely due to the contributions of Millsap. The former Hawk is a consistent performer who is highly susceptible to breakout games. In his last 13 outings, Millsap has scored 30+ Fantasy Points 10 times, 40+ Fantasy Points 5 times, and 50+ Fantasy Points 3 times. Denver travels to Boston tonight to face off against a Celtics team that is a lowly 25th in OPRK against PF/Cs. Millsap should take off again.

C – Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz (DK Salary $8,300, 41.2 FPPG)

Gobert is a notorious defender, but his offensive abilities are often overlooked. With a versatile stat line of 15.4 PPG / 12.9 RPG / 2.3 BLKPG / 41.2 FPPG, the big man contributes fantasy points on a consistent basis. In his last 7 games, Gobert has averaged 42.9 FPPG and is trending upwards after a dominant 52.3 Fantasy Point outing two nights ago against Brooklyn. With the Jazz fighting for the playoffs, expect Gobert to crush a Wizards team that is in the bottom third of the league in OPRK against Centers.

G – Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics (DK Salary $4,900, 23.0 FPPG)

I am going to preface this by saying I am not a Marcus Smart fan. But he seems to kill me every time I avoid picking him in my fantasy lineup. Especially with Smart killing it as of late, 28.7 FPPG over his last 7 games; it’s simply unwise to avoid taking him at $4,900 DK. It pains me to say it, but Smart is a smart play tonight with the Celtics trying to lock things up for the playoffs.

F – Thomas Bryant, Washington Wizards (DK Salary $4,100, 21.3 FPPG)

I don’t intentionally do this (or maybe I do), but I end up constantly taking at least one former Hoosier in my fantasy lineup. Tonight, it’s Thomas Bryant of the Wizards. Bryant has a tendency to be streaky, but when he’s on, he’s ON. Less than a week ago, he had a massively impressive double-double outing against the Magic with 21 Points, 10 Rebounds, and 40.5 Fantasy Points. As Washington takes on a Utah team that is 27th in OPRK against PF/Cs, Bryant should find his stride yet again.

UTIL – Jusuf Nurkic, Portland Trail Blazers (DK Salary $7,100, 37.7 FPPG)

I initially had Blake Griffin in this slot, but the weenie decided to screw us over yet again with a healthy scratch for rest. So instead, we will run with Portland’s top big man Nurkic. The starting Center is averaging a double-double with 15.4 PPG and 10.4 RPG. Nurkic has been strong as of late, averaging 42.5 FPPG over his last 7 games. With Portland looking to secure their spot in the playoffs, expect for Nurkic to turn things up tonight in front of the home crowd.
