NBA Hit or Miss March 27th, 2019

Back on the wagon, ladies and gentlemen.

Washington Wizards @ Phoenix Suns

Spread: Wizards -1.5

O/U: 231.0

The Phoenix Suns are coming off an embarrassing 33 point loss to the Utah Jazz. Devin Booker had himself a night, scoring 59 points. He should get out of Phoenix as soon as he can. But sometimes it takes a loss like that to make a team come out swinging in the next game. I’m betting the Suns pull off a win at home. The Wizards are one of the worst road teams in the NBA with an abysmal 8-28 record. The Suns are also second in the league in steals with 9.0 per game and the Wizards tend to turn the ball over a lot (13.4 per game, which is in the bottom half of the league). I know it seems weird to take such a bad team with such a small spread, but my gut is telling me to take the Suns. I have them covering the spread and winning the game outright.

MY PICKS

Spread: Suns +1.5

O/U: Over 231.0

Winner: Suns

Indiana Pacers @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Spread: Thunder -6.0

O/U: 216.0

Right when Victor Oladipo went down with his knee injury I was ready to completely write of the Pacers. But they have been one of the surprises of the season. Indiana has played very impressive basketball all season long. They are coming off a 36 point win against the 2nd place Denver Nuggets. They have the 4th best field goal percentage at 47.5% and the 5th best 3 point field goal percentage at 37.2%. They’re shooting the lights out of the gym every night, and I think they are going to continue against the Thunder. While the Thunder are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA with a defensive rating of 106.7 (4th), the Pacers are actually better with a defensive rating of 106.0 (3rd). I think the Thunder will win this game on their home court, but I am taking the Pacers to cover the 6 point spread.

MY PICKS

Spread: Pacers +6.0

O/U: Over 216.0

Winner: Thunder

Golden State Warriors @ Memphis Grizzlies

Spread: Warriors -10.5

O/U: 216.0

After sitting out of Sunday's game both Andre Iguodala and Demarcus Cousins will be back in the lineup for the Warriors. Now that we’re in the final stretch of the NBA regular season, this is about the time the Warriors turn it on. Golden State should get in a groove heading into the playoffs. Even without playoff motivation, the Warriors have been the best shooting team all season. They have the best field goal percentage in the league at 48.8% and the third best percentage from the three point line at 37.7%. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, are one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA. They shoot 45.1% from the field (21st) and 33.9% (28th) from the three point line. I don’t see any way the Grizzlies will be able to keep up with the fire power of the Warriors, even though this game is in Memphis. The Warriors are going to win and cover with ease.
