MLB Hit or Miss April 24th, 2019

Basketball didn’t work so great last night, so it’s on the baseball.

Detroit Tigers @ Boston Red Sox

Starting Pitchers: Tyson Ross vs Eduardo Rodriguez

O/U: 9.5

This pick is partly me showing my Red Sox bias and not accepting how bad this team. They started showing life when they swept the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays but are now about to get swept themselves, and to the Tigers of all teams. I am purely picking the Red Sox tonight because I don’t think they will get swept at Fenway to the terrible Detroit Tigers. Xander Bogaerts is coming off a huge day Tuesday, going yard twice in the day game and tacking on another RBI at night. The Red Sox add one to the win column tonight.

O/U: Over 9.5

Winners: Red Sox -225

Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets

Starting Pitchers: Vince Velasquez vs Jason Vargas

O/U: 9.0

The Mets are my second favorite team so it’s hard for me to bet against them, but when I see Jason Vargas is pitching, I know the right choice. Almost every Mets fan agrees that we don’t know what Vargas is doing on a MLB roster. At this point in the season he has a 9.58 ERA and is going against a very explosive Phillies lineup. I would bet all my money that Bryce Harper is either recording 3 hits or a home run to the fucking moon. The Phillies got shut out last night and are primed to put a lot of runs on the board. I am taking Philadelphia no questions asked.

O/U: Over 9.0

Winners: Phillies -135

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Pittsburgh Pirates

Starting Pitchers: Merrill Kelly vs Jordan Lyles

O/U: 8.0

The Diamondbacks took the first 2 games of this series, but I think they are going to hit a brick wall tonight. Jordan Lyles has been pitching out of his mind this season, posting a 0.53 ERA and has only allowed 1 run in all three games combined. The Pirates have capped him out at 6 innings twice and 5 in the other, but he has impressive numbers nonetheless. Arizona pitcher Merrill Kelly hasn’t been bad by any stretch, but he walks a lot of batters. He has a 2:1 K:BB ratio on the season and if you allow baserunners to any team, they will hurt you. The Pirates are also looking to avoid being swept in front of the home crowd, so all in all I am riding the Pirate ship tonight.

O/U: Under 8.0

Winners: Pirates -117

Betting mastermind. Didn't have the height or talent for sports but I can talk and pick them like a champ.
