WWE Recap: Raw and SmackDown Pops and Botches 4/1 - 4/2

That’s all she wrote folks.

The last of WWE television before Wrestlemania has wrapped and it got me excited for the big matches (the lower card, not so much). Like most weeks, there were ups and downs, but you just hope for more before the biggest show of the year. The big angles dazzled this week, while the lower card angles were meh.

WWE Championship Contract Signing (Smackdown)

The ending of Smackdown had Champion Daniel Bryan and challenger Kofi Kingston in the ring to sign a contract to make their match at Wrestlemania official. Nothing exciting happened in the segment, but Daniel Bryan reminded everybody why he is one of the best speakers in the business today. Most people on the current roster are unable to handle a rowdy crowd, but Daniel is not most people. Before Bryan could say a word, the crowd was chanting “Kofi Kofi Kofi”. This didn’t faze him in the slightest. He was able to play into it and cut one of the better promos I have seen in months. He swung the crowd by telling Kofi how he once was in the same position as him. It was so good and although I know it would be one hell of a Wrestlemania moment for Kofi to win the title, there is so much more to be had with Daniel Bryan.

Also watch Big E just having the time of his life listening to thousands of people chanting for his friend. I laughed upwards of 6 times just watching him jirate.

Women’s Brawl

Oh man, this was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen and I loved every second of it. After their 6 woman tag match against the Riott Squad, Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch started brawling all over the ring. Of course out the backstage area comes “security” and “police officers” to stop them from fighting. Personal note, I love the fake security and police, they are so goofy and so over the top it makes me laugh every single time. They end up handcuffing all three women and leading them to the back. Once they got to the back area, all hell broke loose. For some reason they put Becky and Ronda in the same squad car and the two comically stare at each other and then start throwing kicks like toddlers. In the process Ronda kicks the door window and it shatters. They pull Becky out of the car to separate them. They try to put her in the other car with Charlotte, but the kicking starts again. While that is going on, Ronda somehow gets in the front seat and drives the first car into the second. This was so cartoony and I loved it. One of the funniest things I have ever seen. I don’t know if it was supposed to make me laugh, but goddamn I am pumped for this triple threat match on Sunday.

Apollo Crew vs Jinder Mahal

I know why they did it, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t hate it. Whenever I see Jinder Mahal on my TV I instinctively change the channel. But the Mets had already won and there was nothing else on TV. They had Apollo vs Mahal to help promote the Andre Memorial Battle Royal they have every year at Wrestlemania. While these two were having their match, outside were 20 other wrestlers who haven’t been on TV in months. There is no way you could ever make me care about a battle royal that is not the Royal Rumble. They are always stupid and one of the wrestlers outside the ring agreed with me. EC3, who should be a main eventer, was just standing there with his arms crossed and a look of pure disgust. I don’t blame him. He can’t find TV time as one of the better talents on the roster and I am shocked he hasn’t asked for a release.

Betting mastermind. Didn't have the height or talent for sports but I can talk and pick them like a champ.
