Wrestlemania 35 Recap: Did it Suck?

Wrestlemania 35 is in the books, but did it suck?

Far from it. Aside from the show being 7 and a half hours, it was very enjoyable. There were a handful of matches that were mediocre and completely lost my interest, but those were few and far between.

The WWE Championship, Universal Championship, and Women’s Championship matches all had happy endings.. Seth Rollins, Kofi Kingston, and Becky Lynch all came out on top and that made this one of the most fan friendly shows of all time.

Let's get into the results from the card.

Pre-show Results ( I didn’t watch):

Carmella wins Women’s Battle Royal

Cruiserweight Title Match: Tony Nese def. Buddy Murphy

Raw Tag Team Title Match: Hawkins and Ryder def. The Revival

Braun Strowman wins Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Main Show:

Seth Rollins def. Brock Lesnar (Universal Championship)

This was not much of a match and quite frankly it was a disappointment. Seth hit Lesanr is the dick and stomped him three times to get the win. Although I am thrilled Seth won, the match fell flat compared to other Lesnar matches.

AJ Styles def. Randy Orton

Solid match but I always find myself expecting more with an AJ Styles match. I don’t blame him though, I put this all on Randy. There were a few good spots but it seemed a bit methodical and slow.

The Usos def. The Bar, Aleister Black and Ricochet, and Rusev and Nakamura (Smackdown Tag Team Championships)

Really fun match from bell to bell. The Usos deserve to be champs for a while, they consistently put on the best tag team matches. Hopefully Black and Ricochet go their separate ways as single competitors.

Shane McMahon def. The Miz

Match of the night. This shit was so goofy and fun. The Miz's dad entered the ring, Shane fell off the steps, and the suplex off the stage. Grade A entertainment the whole time. Shane winning was a bit weird but I’m sure we will get a reason.

The Iconics def. Bayley and Sasha Banks, Natalya and Beth Phoenix, Nia Jax and Tamina (Women’s Tag Team Championships)

I love the Iconics. They are so purposely bad that I find them amazing. They are gonna be great heel champions. Bayley and Banks were not cutting it for me, hopefully we move into a feud with them. The match itself was just eh.

Kofi Kingston def. Daniel Bryan (WWE Championship)

Amazing match with an even better celebration. Once the referee counted three the crowd went ape shit. 11 years in the making and Kofi Kingston is finally WWE Champion. The celebration with his kids and the other members of New Day was enough to bring a tear to your eye.

Samoa Joe def. Rey Mysterio (United States Championship)

Literally lasted 60 seconds but I love how dominant it made Joe look. Made Rey pass out to the sleeper hold. Rey was injured earlier this week so he was in no shape for a long match.

Roman Reigns def. Drew McIntyre

Typical Roman Reigns match, I just don’t find him entertaining. Would be better for a larger story if Drew won, but Roman hit the spear and got the pinfall. Total bore of a match.

Elias One Man Show

Amazing, I love Elias and he was entertaining as always. Then the very reason I fell in love with wrestling happened. John Cena as the Doctor of Thuganomics came out and roasted Elias for 2 minutes. Cena hit Elias with the F-U and left. I LOVED THIS!

Triple H def. Bautista

I thought this was very entertaining. It was a no holds barred match so of course Triple H broke out the sledgehammer (given to him by Ric Flair) and hit Bautista for the win. Also the spot with Triple H yanking Bautista’s nose ring out of his face was terrific.

Baron Corbin def. Kurt Angle

I know this is the way they do it in WWE, but it would have been nice to see Kurt Angle win his last match. But Baron is the young up and comer so he needs to benefit the most.

“The Demon” Finn Balor def. Bobby Lashley (Intercontinental Championship)

The Demons entrance was awesome and is perfect for Wrestlemania with all the smoke and lights. As always Balor as The Demon wins the match in about 4 minutes but it was balls to the wall the whole time.

Becky Lynch def. Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair (Raw and SmackDown Women's Championship)

I thought this match was fantastic until the finish. Reports are that the way the match ended was a mistake and that's why it felt so lackluster. But these three proved to every WWE fan that women can main event the biggest show of the year. With Becky winning and pinning Ronda the entire stadium went home happy.

Overall I thought this was a very fun show. The Miz and Shane was total chaos, Kofi was a fantastic feel good story, and Becky finally beat Ronda Rousey. WWE pulled off a very successful show but they need to cut down on the time. 7 and a half hours is way too much wrestling for one sitting. I was dozing off towards the end and had to take a power nap to stay awake for the main event. I know they won’t change anything because that means less money, so we'll just have to live with it.

Show Rating: 8.9/10

Betting mastermind. Didn't have the height or talent for sports but I can talk and pick them like a champ.
