Anyone else furious with the end of Game of Thrones? Well, let’s numb the pain together by winning some money.
Philadelphia Phillies @ Chicago Cubs
Starting Pitching: Jake Arrieta vs Yu Darvish
Just a few years ago this looked like a premier match-up between two top tier pitchers. They don’t carry the same draw power as back in the day. Although I think Philadelphia has the better pitcher in Jake Arrieta tonight I think Yu Darvish has been the hotter man. Yu has only allowed 3 runs in his past 2 starts while Arrieta has allowed at least 4 in 3 of his last starts. I also just generally like the Chicago offense more so I think I like them in any head to head match-up. The Cubs have the 6th best AVG (.255), 2nd (.345), 4th in OPS (.769). I trust this Cubs lineup more tonight in Chicago so I will be riding with them in what I think will be a close game.
O/U: Over 8.5
Winners: Cubs -117
Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers
Starting Pitching: Mike Leake vs Mike Minor
Mike Minor has been one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball this season behind one of the most run productive offenses in the league. Minor has a 2.61 ERA this season and 56 strikeouts in 58.2 innings and he hasn’t allowed more than 3 runs in a game since April 22nd. When someone pitches this well it is almost a certainty the Rangers will win behind their electric offense. The Rangers are still 1st in runs per game with 5.8 and tied for 5th most hits with 8.8. They should be able to feed on this Seattle pitching staff who allows the most runs per game (6.0) and the most hits per game (9.6) in the MLB. This is an easy pick for me, I think the Rangers will win this game and take them to cover the -1.5 spread.
O/U: Under 11.0
Winners: Rangers -150
Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Diego Padres
Starting Pitching: Luke Weaver vs Chris Paddock
Coming off a rough going against division rival Dodgers, Chris Paddock will be looking to get back on track against other division rivals the Arizona Diamondbacks. Although the Diamondbacks have one of the most potent offenses in the league, I think Paddock is going to have himself a great showing. He has been one of the best pitchers this season with a 1.99 ERA and .75 WHIP. Although the Padres haven’t been a great offense this season, they are going to need is 2 runs for them to escape this game. That is how well I see Paddock pitching tonight. I think he is going to pitch a shutout against the Backs and help bring the Padres to a .500 record.
O/U: Over 6.5
Winners: Padres -145
