It was a wild weekend in sports. Hope everyone won some money, I will win you more tonight.
New York Mets @ New York Yankees
Starting PItching: Jasan Vargas vs Masahiro Tanaka
Outside of Yankees-Red Sox, this is my favorite series every year. The battle of boroughs, the fight for New York, the Subway Series. For years now it is understood that the Yankees are the big brother and the Mets have no chance, but the Bronx Bombers have seen nothing like Jason Fucking Vargas. Vargas has been doing the unthinkable by being the best pitcher in the Mets rotation. Last time out he pitched a complete game shutout. Jason Vargas has only allowed 2 total runs his last 3 starts, and I think he will continue his surprising dominance in Yankee Stadium. This will probably be the only game the Mets take from the Yanks, but this is their best chance with their hottest starter on the mound. Take the Mets in the upset.
O/U: Under 9.5
Winners: Mets +170
Oakland Athletics @ Tampa Bay Rays
Starting PItching: Tanner Anderson vs Charlie Morton
Tampa Bay has continued to be the most impressive team in the AL East. They are still maintaining the 1st spot in the East, and it is largely due to their starting pitching. Tonight’s starter Charlie Morton is having a hell of a season and is currently undefeated with a 7-0 record. Not to mention he has a very impressive 2.30 ERA and has struck out 91 batters in 74.1 innings. Behind him is one of the best offenses in the league with the 4th best batting average at .262 and the 5th best on base percentage at .338. The Rays should have an easy time against a .500 A’s team that don’t seem to have that spark this year. East pick tonight, go with the Rays in Tampa.
O/U: Under 8.5
Winners: Rays -200
Los Angeles Angels @ Los Angeles Dodgers
Starting PItching: Hyun-Jin Ryu vs Griffin Channing
Another matchup with teams from the same city making it a fun rivalry. The Dodgers are flatout the better team and will have no trouble getting the win tonight. Hyun-Jin Ryu has been one of the better pitchers this season and will have an easy time against the Angels. He has a 1.35 ERA and .78 WHIP through 80.0 innings pitched with a 9-1 record. The Dodgers also have a top 5 offense in baseball where they are 3rd in BA (.263), 1st in OBP (.345), 3rd in SLG (.462), and 8th in homeruns (101) on the season. The Dodgers are simply the better team and will take this game with their best starter on the mound.
O/U: Under 9.0
Betting mastermind. Didn't have the height or talent for sports but I can talk and pick them like a champ.
