MLB Hit or Miss July 3rd, 2019

4th of July Eve and we got some baseball and beer to enjoy!

Chicago Cubs @ Pittsburgh Pirates

Starting Pitching: Yu Darvis vs Chris Archer

O/U: 9.5

When going into games as the favorite, the Cubs have a 36-22 record. Meanwhile the Pirates are 27-33 when entering the game as the underdog. I am taking the Cubs tonight to beat the Pirates in Pittsburg and avoid their 4th straight loss. The Cubs are a top 10 team in OBP at .335 (7th) and OPS at .782 (8th). I think even with Kris Bryant out of the lineup tonight, the Cubs will have a good enough night offensively to take this game away from the in division rivals.

O/U: Over 9.5

Winners: Cubs -125

Philadelphia Phillies @ Atlanta Braves

Starting Pitching: Nick Pivetta vs Bryse Wilson

O/U: 11.5

As the away team the Phillies have had their fair share of struggles this year. They only have a 18-23 record and as the underdog they are 9-15. This is a huge advantage for the Braves who are very impressive at home, they have a 22-15 record as the home favorite. Atlanta is also a top 10 team in every major offensive statistic. 8th in BAA (.262), 5th OBP (.337), 7th SLG (.458), and 6th in OPS (.795). I think this is going to be a huge night for the Braves and they are going to blow the doors off the Phillies tonight.

O/U: Under 11.5

Winners: Braves -130

Detroit Tigers @ Chicago White Sox

Starting Pitching: Tyler Alexander vs Ross Detwiler

O/U: 11.0

This will be game 2 of the double header between the Tigers and White Sox, and about 76% of the time the teams split a double header. The White Sox took game 1 so I am riding with the Tigers for the night game. Detroit also has Tyler Alexander making his season debut and as we know by now, I always ride with the pitcher there is no tape on so I think Chicago is going to have a hard time getting Alexander's timing and motion down. I am taking the Tigers and very confidently.

O/U: Under 11.0

Winners: Tigers +115
